PDR 1878 + Coffee
If I’ve learned one thing in my time here at Cigars International, it’s that there’s no better way to start a day than with a nice Connecticut and cup of coffee. And this new release from Abe Flores is going to fit right in with my daily routine. At this year’s IPCPR show PDR cigars debuted its PDR 1878 Café line - an offshoot of the original 1878 line with a subtle coffee infusion. At hand is the PDR 1878 Natural Roast Café.
It comes wrapped in an Ecuador Connecticut leaf, with a Dominican Criollo 98 binder and long fillers from Nicaragua and the Dominican underneath. It clocks in at a nice mellow to medium-bodied profile and is a great choice for a morning cigar paired with a cup of joe. It has a nice touch of sweetness, thanks to the use of real cane sugar in the infusion process, and very distinct yet subtle coffee flavors in every puff. Some coffee infused cigars are overdone and end up tasting more like a chocolate bar. But that’s not the case here. It’s mellow, creamy, smooth, and the flavors are never overpowering. Try one out and you won’t be disappointed.
